Winter can be the best time to be at the beach. I couldn’t resist the abstract possibilities created by water and ripples in the sand. And no foot prints!

Late-day light on these grasses on Acadia’s North Bubble reminded me of fireworks.

Rocks, ripples, and golden light reflections in South Branch Pond in Baxter State Park.

The forest floor in late autumn can be a nature photographer’s playground. This macro shot of the underside of a maple leaf was just the beginning. 🙂

Compared to mid-summer, Popham Beach can be a quiet place on a winter day. I was able to capture these ripples undisturbed by footprints.

The last week of October brought much-needed rain, strong winds, and a lot of leaf fall.

Sometimes trying to find and capture patterns in nature is an adventure in itself.
