Fallen leaves on the Sanders Hill trail in Maine’s Kennebec Highlands. While an unusually warm and dry September and early October has slowed the transition to fall in Central Maine and many trees still have green leaves even at this point, there are still some patches of beautiful color.

Fall comes to Round Pond in the Kennebec Highlands. This stand of red pines is one of my favorites.

Morning fog on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. Early November brings a new color palette as most of the leaves have fallen. It also brings quiet, as most of the tourists have left for the season.
