A summer night at Pollywog Pond in Maine’s Nahmakanta Public Reserved Land.

Lily pads and fall reflections in a small pond.

Life in a tidepool in a cave along the Acadiacoast.

Black guillemots hanging out on a ledge on Otter Cliff at Acadia National Park.

Little Abol Falls is just a short (about one mile) hike from the Abol campground in Baxter State Park.

Katahdin viewed from Big Rock observation point on the shoreline of Sandy Stream Pond, Baxter State Park.

Sunset over Frenchman Bay, Acadia National Park.

This was the height of black fly season in Baxter State Park. To take this shot and many others on that trip I had to chase the blackflies away from my lens, and editing required spotting out not only the occasional dust spot, but quite a few black fly traces. The joys of the Maine woods in mid-June! The pond is surrounded by volcanic mountains composed of rhyolite–the Traveler range to the east and the South Branch and Black Cat mountains to the west.

A brown eyed susan against the summer sky.

Blue tail damselflies hanging out on a lily pad.
